What's been happening in Grade 1 & 2?
This term in Level 2 we are learning all about Water and we went on an excursion to Ceres to find out more. While we were there doing the Water Keepers Program we learnt about water in the home, we went on a creek walk, we heard all about a river’s tale and we went aquatic netting. We were then able to bring all the new information that we had learnt about water back to school with us. We all had a great day!

Preps – Construction
The Preps used small boxes, cylinders and containers to construct their own models. They covered these with paper mache, painted them and decorated them with shiny papers.

Grade 1 and 2 – Printing
The children explored many aspects of printing, creating coloured hand prints on black paper and covering an animal stencil shape with printed patterns.
Grade 3 and 4 – Hot Air Balloons – Mixed Media
To create our Hot Air Balloon collages, Grade 3 and 4 students designed patterns and made mosaic balloons, wove coloured raffia through hessian to make baskets.

Grade 5 and 6 – Indonesian Paper Mache Masks
Grades 5 and 6 students covered plastic face moulds with paper mache and added features with cardboard and polystyrene to create their Indonesian masks. They then painted them with acrylic paint and decorated them with gold and silver pens, feathers and sequins.
Prep - 2 Literacy Centres
Every Tuesday and Thursday mornings all Prep - Grade 2 students participate in our Literacy Centre rotations. During this block students work in small groups to complete tasks with either a parent helper or their teacher. Some of the activities they are involved in include writing (storywriting, punctuation/editing skills, handwriting/letter formation), reading (big book, individual or guided), computer activities and comprehension and word games. All teachers involved would like to thank all the wonderful parent helpers that have offered their help and supported us with our rotations. If any parents are able to help and have not yet spoken to their child's teacher, please come and see us!
