Harmony Day

Harmony Day is an important celebration because it represents World Peace. We are very lucky at Glen Huntly Primary School because we have many cultures represented within our community and we all strive to work and play together in a harmonious way.
The National date for Harmony Day Celebrations is the 21st March, however, as this is a Saturday, Glen Huntly Primary School will be celebrating on Friday, 20th March.
On this day we invite everyone to come to school dressed in their national dress of their choice or where this is not possible, to wear something orange.

Waste Free Lunch

Every Thursday Glen Huntly Primary School takes part in a Waste Free Lunch organised by the Junior School Council. Each grade records the number of students who bring along a waste free lunch and then Mr Vic Thompson calculates it as a percentage.
The grade with the highest percentage of rubbish free lunches then gets to display the Golden Lunchbox in their classroom until the next Rubbish Free Lunch.

East Malvern Bendigo Community Bank

Glen Huntly Primary School woud like to thank the East Malvern Bendigo Community Bank for their fantastic sponsorship, which provided Shade Sails over our West Site Playground.

Federal Government’s Community Water Grants

Recently we received fantastic news from The Hon Andrew Robb AO MP that Glen Huntly Primary has been successful with our application for the Round 3 Community Water Grant.

Grants of up to $50 000 were available for projects related to water savings and efficiency and recycling water for use and Glen Huntly Primary has been granted $ 48 666!

Proposed activities needed to have a very high public benefit. The National Water Initiative encourages the adoption of best-practice approaches to water management that will bring substantial benefits, optimizing economic, social and environmental outcomes.

The scope of works which will be carried out by the company, Storm Water Preservation Australia will supply and install:
· two complete rainwater harvesting systems to harvest water from the roof of the Hall on the East Site and the Junior school building on the West Site to use in flushing the school’s toilets and for watering the grounds. The total rainwater capacity is 26,400 litres and the approximate roof catchment area is approximately 700m2.
· a rainwater tank system which will include three 8,800 litre tanks
· a commercial grade pump system including filtration and backflow prevention
· a multistage automatic, toilet pump with mains water backup controller
· multistage automatic, irrigation pump and controller
· also the necessary pipes, drainage, earthworks, electrical works, and water metres
