SPRING FAIR BUZZ

Saturday 16th November 2pm – 7.30pm

Spring Fair planning is well underway, and we are delighted to have secured 3 rides from Action Events.

Our priority activity NOW, is gathering sponsorship and donations for our event. If you have friends or work associates who would be interested in sponsorship or have vouchers or items to donate, please contact Sanchita on our ghpsevents@gmail.com email and she can provide you with our Sponsorship letter. Donated vouchers and items would be part of our raffles or silent auction. You’ll have to work fast if you are going to match Tara’s efforts!

Alternatively, if you have some time to contact businesses, by phone or in-person, Sanchita has a list of businesses that have supported GHPS in the past.

The Trash’n’Treasure stall will be collecting donations of books, toys & games and household goods from the start of Term 4. So, keep us in mind if you are decluttering over the Term holidays.

If you have spare plant pots, the Plant stall is collecting, so please leave securely bagged pots at the Office.

Donations for Lucky Jars. Plastic jars, small toys, erasers, anything children like, as long as it fits in the jar.

We are still looking for someone to convene the Cake stall. This is one of the top fundraising stalls, and a great first step in getting involved with a big event. Note, you don’t have to do any baking to run this stall!!

EVENTS RECAP

Friday 16th August Disco

Oh, what a night! The annual GHPS Kids Disco was another raving success with over 200 students pulling out their best dance moves for the occasion. It took a huge effort from a super team of parent volunteers to make the evening such a success, and a special thanks to the staff members who also gave up their time to be there.

The tunes were pumping thanks to AJ the DJ from Primary DJ Melbourne. Meanwhile, the Super Team in the kitchen pumped out enough hot dogs to feed everybody. The photo booth run by Lili (Aiden 0) was a huge hit and the children enjoyed posing for a photo or two with their friends.

This night would not have been possible without all the people who generously put their hand up to help. We are so grateful for your contribution and for enabling us to put on this amazing event for our kids! Special shout out to the staff (aka “the friendliest security in town”) – Ms Broxham, Mr White, Mrs Burns and Ms Ruth Smyth-Kinyua – for keeping everyone safe. Thanks to Abbi (James 6, Lewis, 4, Eden 3) for organising goodie bags and hot dogs, and making this event happen.

Sunday 18th August Bunnings BBQ

And that’s a wrap – with another $2000 in the GHPS coffers.

A huge Thank You to Sally (Ivy 5) for once again coordinating the Bunnings BBQ.

Fine weather ensured a fine time had by all those who “rolled up their sleeves” for some barbeque magic.

Friday 30th August Father’s Day Stall

Another triumph by Sarah (Rachel 3) in sourcing a wide variety of gifts for the Father’s Day Stall. Hopefully Dads are making good use of their Coupon Book – a popular item for those last gold coins needing to be spent by eager students. A special thank you to all who donated items. The donations were some of the best we’ve had for a Mother’s Day or Father’s Day stall.

Well done to all the volunteers who “served” on the day and particularly for the extra effort when Sarah was unavoidably delayed in attending in the morning.

Thursday 12th September Grandparents/Special Person morning tea

Thanks to all the food donations, we had a great spread to serve our estimated 100+ grandparents and special people that visited the students’ classrooms and enjoyed performances by the choir, Grade 4/5 Showcase encore performance, and the ukulele band.

Great work by Gajalakshimi (Akhilesh Gr5) and Pooja (Pranika 3) making their debut in leading a GPA activity.

Term 4 Cake Raffle

Good news for those of you who no longer have cash (especially coins) to hand and thus have been missing out on the fabulous cakes raffled on Fridays. For term 4 we will provide the option to purchase in advance a weekly raffle ticket (or 2,3, 4 tickets) for all 10 weeks of Term 4. So, for $10 you can get 1 ticket for each Friday cake raffle of the term.

Look out for this option on the Icy Pole/Cake Raffle Order for Term 4 – due back Wednesday 9th October, in time for Term 4 Week 1 fabulous Friday fun. Note, this payment will still be cash only – so save your small notes and coins over the school holidays!

Importantly, it will still be possible to buy raffle tickets and icy poles on a Friday, with cash on the day, as usual. Term 4 is icy poles only (no hot chocolate).
