In the final newsletter of the year, I want to thank each and every one of you for your partnership, volunteering, support, and involvement.
I cannot believe my first year as Principal is coming to a close.
I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what has been an eventful, successful, and rewarding year at Glen Huntly Primary School. Together we have achieved outstanding NAPLAN results, a more effective wellbeing program and stronger community connections.
It has been wonderful getting to know our students’ families and incredible staff. Our school community has been integral to our school’s success, and I am very grateful for your engagement in your child’s learning journey.
Celebrating Our Volunteers
Last week, we gathered to celebrate our amazing volunteers with a morning tea. It was wonderful to see many of you there.
Our volunteers support us in countless ways, from governance and fundraising to reading programs and excursions.
You truly are the heartbeat of our school, and your efforts are deeply appreciated.
Community Builders Award
Congratulations to Rishi, 4/5A, who has been named this year’s recipient of the 2024 GHPS Community Builder Award.
Each year, a student at GHPS receives this prestigious award from Steve Dimopoulos, State Member of Parliament for the Oakleigh district.
Rishi has been nominated by staff as he is inclusive of all people, truly embraces diversity and respects and supports everyone.
Congratulations Rishi and we are very proud of you.
Year 6 Graduation and Farewell
Our Year 6 Graduation was a memorable celebration of our students’ journey at Glen Huntly Primary School.

To our Year 6 students, we wish you all the very best next year in secondary school.
For some parents, this is the last event they will have with us, and I would like to thank you all for your ongoing support of the school.

As principal, the voices of our students are vital to the work I do, and I look forward to working closely with our new school leadership team next year.
I would also like to remind students that you are a leader whenever you take an action, whether you are a captain or not.
I encourage all students across the school to show their school values every day and encourage their friends to do the same!

A heartfelt thank you to Fiona, our 2024 GPA President! Your warm and friendly demeanour has been an incredible asset, and we truly appreciate the wonderful contributions you’ve made. Your insights during the Parent Information session were invaluable for our new Prep families—thank you for sharing your perspective!
To all the amazing GPA members, it’s been a joy working alongside you on the Committee. Your hard work has brought fun and fundraising to our students and school community!
We always welcome new parents at the GPA table, so I encourage you to join us next year!
I’m excited about what 2025 has in store, and I can’t wait to keep collaborating to create even more opportunities for growth and learning together.
As we close out 2024, I want to wish everyone a safe, restful, and joyful holiday season. Thank you for your support and contributions this past year! We’ve accomplished so much together, and I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you in 2025.
In 2025 we will have 13 classes.
Our students are at the centre of all our decisions and planning and our staff’s professional learning reflects this.
Our teachers will continue to build their capacity to address the different ability levels within each class, including the multiage classes in 3/4 and 5/6.
Students requiring support will be part of the tutor learning program with Mrs Oldham and those very able students will be involved a weekly extension class.
More information will be communicated early in term 1. If you have any questions, please reach out to me, I am always happy to discuss your inquiries.

Christian 0A – For his problem-solving skills during Digital Technologies. It was great to see you exploring and developing your ICT skills. Well done, Christian!
Frankie 0B – For your outstanding effort in both writing and designing your poster about seahorses, you really made it something special! You carefully wrote out your good copy and presented your poster in a fun, creative way. Well done, Frankie!
Mickey 0B – For your fantastic effort in writing and designing your informative poster about seahorses, you truly went above and beyond! The extra details in your pictures made your work truly stand out. Keep it up, Superstar!
Zara 0C – For writing a fantastic information report about seahorses. You included facts about what they look like, eat and where they live. Your poster looked so amazing! Great effort.
Henry 0C – For writing a fantastic information report about seahorses. You included so many interesting facts and your poster had amazing drawings. Super work!
All 1A students – For being an amazing Grade 1 class. You’ve been absolutely fantastic this year! I’ve had so much fun teaching you and watching you learn and grow. You all make every day so special!
All 1B students – The whole class is receiving a student of the week award for staying motivated and engaged through the last few weeks of year one. You guys rock!
Safiya 2A – For always trying your hardest during class lessons. You always have a smile on your face and are friendly to everyone. Keep up the great work!
Nyala 3A – For your fantastic choose your own adventure story titled ‘The Unicorn Night’. I really enjoyed reading it and it was well presented on Google Slides. Well done!
Bhuvi 3A – For your fantastic efforts during our games of Wordle and Kahoot. You are a champion at spelling and general knowledge! Keep up the great work!
Kira 3B – For her caring and helpful nature in the classroom. She always helps her classmates with immense positivity and will often offer assistance to her teachers without being asked. You’re a superstar!
All 2/3C students – For creating a positive and welcoming learning environment every day. As a class, you have truly shown what it means to grow, learn and work together as a team. You have faced challenges together, celebrated successes and always looked out for each other. Keep up the amazing teamwork and spirit!
