FAREWELL TO CAITILIN AND FAMILY

The Glen Huntly Parents Association would like to thank Caitilin Hawkins (Samson Bloch 5/6R) for the many hours she has put into our school over the last 12 ½ years.

Caitilin has organised countless GPA events, including co-coordinating the 2015 fete.  Caitilin has taken care of GPA Communications and SignUp Rostering for many years, served multiple terms on School Council, attended many GPA social events and along with her husband, Gadi, volunteered for events and activities of every kind.

Caitilin, Gadi, Raf, Asher and Samson, we wish you all the best with your new endeavours.  Thank you for all of your time and friendship at GHPS.  Your community spirit will be sorely missed … as will your Ultimate Fudge 😉

Upcoming GPA Events

Advance Notice

Friday 11th August (new date) Kids Disco

Friday 15th September Pie lunch (last day of Term 3)

Grandparents & Special Persons’ Morning Tea

Tables laden with delicious food were provided for the Grandparents and Special People to enjoy while mingling with their students, post the choir performance and visiting their student’s classroom.

Thanks to the team of volunteers for preparing and serving so efficiently.

Pizza Lunch

We finished Term 2 with a Pizza Lunch Fundraiser for States Schools’ Relief. Margherita was the most popular of the 3 flavours offered, and Prep B topped the chart ordering 21 slices of Margherita pizza and Grades 2M and 4A had the highest total number of slices (29 each).

We should raise ~ $350 for State Schools’ Relief Relief (SSR) fund which is a not-for-profit organisation that improves the lives of tens of thousands of disadvantaged Victorian students, and their families, each year. They offer a simple and practical service that ensures that all students can attend school in warmth and comfort with a greater sense of belonging and improved self-esteem, which in turn enhances their educational engagement.

Great effort, pizza eaters!

Term 2 Thanks!

Term 2 was another busy one with GPA events (Mother’s Day stall, Cake raffles, Friday Icy Pole & Hot chocolates, Pizza Lunch, Grandparents Morning Tea). The volunteer efforts of parents and family members is an essential part of the success of these events, whether attendance on the day, organising beforehand or baking.

A huge THANKS to:

Abbi Gilbert, Angie Kueh, Anthony Layton, Archana Jaiswal, Ashleigh Smart, Caitlin Hawkins, Cathy Foden, Cecylia Kee, Cesar Albarran Torres, Christine Vegas, David Blumenstein, Fiona Davey, Gajlasksmi KR, Gayle Davey, Hannah Madhu, Hayley Clift, Janaki Ananth, Josh Mrocki, Kate Fernandez, Kate Langdon, Kavitha Faruqui, Lisa Aye, Michelle Lewis, Monica Falconer, Nicole Healy, Richa Gupta, Sanchita Shangbag, Sarah Howell, Taptim Jacobs, Tara Voss.

Also, the “anonymous” volunteers (those who participated but didn’t use Sign Up, so your names are not recorded), please be assured your efforts are still appreciated.
