Our School

Our Mission:

The school aims to provide a caring and challenging learning environment that assists students of all abilities to reach their full potential and become effective and productive members of the global society.

The dedicated and motivated teachers are inspired and passionate and place high value on having a major positive effect on all students and providing individualised differentiated learning for each student. Glen Huntly Primary School is committed to the Real Schools program, which implements Restorative Practices across the school, to maximise student engagement and wellbeing and social justice approaches.

Our high academic achievement in Literacy and Numeracy, is attributable to our teaching and learning program which incorporates explicit and structured Big 6 strategies and utilising extensive current ICT learning approaches.

All teachers comprehensively determine all students’ individual prior knowledge and readiness to learn, whilst developing a culture of high expectations, by modelling and setting challenging and personalised learning goals.

An exemplary Visual and Performing Arts program is well established with an annual Art Show exhibition and Music performance, proudly showcasing all student work and artistic endeavours. The addition of our resident student rock bands, The Party Hats and The Second Chairs, has been a wonderful experience for all involved.

Our environmental sustainability program incorporates a cooking and gardening program, caring for our chooks, outdoor learning in our vegetable and bush tucker gardens and waste-wise initiatives.

The spacious, well maintained grounds include a separate Junior site for Prep – 2 classes and a Senior site for Grades 3 – 6. The Activities Centre incorporates the Before and After School Care program and a functional and exciting space for special events.

The parent community is exceptional and proactively involved in a positive and valued partnership, with the Glen Huntly Parents Association, Crafty Mums, Buildings and Grounds and Carnivale committees, being very active contributors to the life and functions of the school.
