GHPS “2022 AIR PURIFIER” FUNDRAISING DRIVE

As reported in the GHPS newsletter, the Department of Education and Training (DET) have provided 18 air purifiers to GHPS as part of the roll-out to improve ventilation in all Victorian schools. All classrooms in GHPS do now have an air purifier, however some spaces including the Library, Music Room and some office spaces do not. There is no indication that any more air purifiers will be supplied by DET.

Some members of the GHPS community have raised concerns about every room not currently being fitted out with an air purifier. To address these concerns, GHPS have already purchased 2 smaller air purifiers using  money from the school’s operating budget. The school is keen to purchase an additional 4 smaller air purifiers (and necessary replacement filters) to enable more spaces to be fitted out with an air purifier. The cost of these additional air purifiers and filters is $1,600. The GHPS operational budget cannot currently support this additional expenditure.

In an effort to support the health of GHPS students and teachers, and reduce the anxiety that some GHPS families may be experiencing, GPA have agreed to allocate the 2022 GPA Special Effort Fund (up to $2,000) to the air purifiers so that purchase of these important items can proceed immediately. This does mean that these funds will not be available to be used for other equipment and activities not funded by DET (such as musical instruments, sports equipment, playground equipment, readers, IT equipment and printers, or contributions to specialist programs).

So … we are asking for your help! Please donate to the “2022 Air Purifier” fundraising drive in the hope we can raise $1,600 to cover the cost of these air purifiers over the next fortnight. Any contribution is greatly appreciated and will enable the GPA Special Effort Fund to be re-directed to other equipment/activities.
